A border officer can require a financial deposit or guarantee as a condition of allowing you into Canada, to ensure you comply with any conditions imposed on your entry. The amount is calculated based on your financial situation, the nature of your obligations, and the estimated cost of locating and removing you if you fail to comply.

(1)45 (1) L’agent peut exiger, à l’égard d’une personne ou d’un groupe de personnes cherchant à entrer au Canada, la fourniture d’une garantie d’exécution au ministre pour assurer le respect, par cette personne ou ce groupe, de toute condition qui lui est imposée.
