Anyone applying for a temporary resident visa to enter Canada must pay a processing fee. Accredited diplomats, certain government officials, and people in specified protected categories are exempt from paying this fee.

Legal Text — IRPR Regulation 296

(1)296 (1) A fee of $100 is payable for processing an application for a temporary resident visa to enter Canada one or more times.

(2)(2) The following persons are not required to pay the fee referred to in subsection (1):

(3)(3) If an applicant and their family members make their applications referred to in subsection (1) at the same time, the total amount of fees payable under that subsection must not exceed $500 for all applications together.
