Temporary resident status

Study permits issued to certain people who cannot be removed from Canada do not turn them, or their family members, into temporary residents. Permission to study without the status that usually comes with it.

Legal Text: IRPR Regulation 218

218 A foreign national referred to in paragraph 215(1)(d) and their family members do not, by reason only of being issued a study permit, become temporary residents.
