IRPRPART 7 Family ClassesDIVISION 2 Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class
r.126

Withdrawal of sponsorship application

Family Sponsorship
🍁 In Simple Terms

The same rule as in the family class. If the sponsor withdraws, the in-Canada spouse or partner application stops where it stands. No decision gets made, because there is no live sponsorship for one to be made on.

Affects: Family class sponsors and their relatives
Legal Text: IRPR Regulation 126

126 A decision shall not be made on an application for permanent residence by a foreign national as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class if the sponsor withdraws their sponsorship application in respect of that foreign national.
