Your refugee hearing goes on hold if an officer sends the question of serious inadmissibility, security, war crimes, serious or organized crime, to the Immigration Division, or if the officer wants to wait for the outcome of a serious criminal charge in court. Once the claim is confirmed eligible, the hearing picks back up.
