Accompanying family member outside Canada

🍁 In Simple Terms

Family members accompanying you when you receive a permanent resident visa through humanitarian and compassionate grounds can also receive their own PR visa, as long as they're not inadmissible. If they plan to live in Quebec, Quebec's approval is also required unless they're in the family class or are Convention refugees.

Legal Text — IRPR Regulation 69

(1)69 (1) A foreign national who is an accompanying family member of a foreign national to whom a permanent resident visa is issued under section 67 shall be issued a permanent resident visa if, following an examination, it is established that

(2)(2) A foreign national who is an accompanying family member of a foreign national who becomes a permanent resident under section 68 shall become a permanent resident if the accompanying family member is in Canada and, following an examination, it is established that
