Warrants

🍁 In Simple Terms

Arrest warrants and detention orders issued under the old Immigration Act are treated as if they were issued under the new Act. Enforcement officers and courts can rely on them as valid under the current legal framework.

Legal Text — IRPR Regulation 325

(1)325 (1) A warrant for arrest and detention made under the former Act is a warrant for arrest and detention made under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act .

(2)(2) An order for the detention of a person made under the former Act is an order to detain made under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act .
