Housekeeping for the immigration loans program, which lends newcomers money for things like travel to Canada. The ceiling on advances is $400 million, and the total of every outstanding loan plus accrued interest can never cross that line at any moment. This is a cap on the whole program, not a limit on what any one person can borrow.

(1)The maximum amount of advances that may be made under subsection 88(1) of the Act is $400 million.

Total loans

(2)The total amount of all loans made under this Part plus accrued interest on those loans shall not at any time exceed the maximum amount of advances prescribed by subsection (1).
