IRPRPART 5 Permanent ResidentsDIVISION 1 Permanent Resident Cards
r.60

Revocation

Permanent Residents
🍁 In Simple Terms

A permanent resident card stops being yours in three situations: you become a citizen or otherwise lose permanent resident status, the card is lost, stolen or destroyed, or you have died. Reporting a card lost kills that card, so one that turns up in a coat pocket later is no good to you.

Affects: Foreign nationals and permanent residents in Canada
Legal Text: IRPR Regulation 60

60 A permanent resident card is revoked if (a)the permanent resident becomes a Canadian citizen or otherwise loses permanent resident status; (b)the permanent resident card is lost, stolen or destroyed; or (c)the permanent resident is deceased.
